Important issues were brought to the table at the OEZE Board of Directors

In the conference room C2 at the METROPOLITAN EXPO during ARTOZA 2023, the Board of Directors of the Federation of Greek Confectioners (OEZE) was held on March 6, with the presence of many Presidents from the Unions – members of O.E.Z.E.

By observing a minute’s silence in memory of the recently deceased in the recent train accident in Tempi, the Board of Directors of OEZE began: “unfortunately, this unpleasant event happened during the celebration of our industry” . That’s why the exhibition is being held in low tones,” said the President of the federation, Ioannis Glykos. After that, topics of major importance in the field of confectionery were raised and a productive and constructive discussion developed within the room among the attendees. Resounding “attendance” was given by notable representatives of the sector. Initially, Protergia’s energy consultant, Ioannis Augustidis, spoke, among other things, about the subsidies related to the kilowatt-hours consumed by confectionery professionals, while he said that he was willing to answer any question that the attendees had, regarding energy issues. Then, the unanimous approval of the financial report for 2022 took place, as well as the approval of the budget for the year 2023.

ARTOZA 2023 was held with great success

This year’s ARTOZA was also in the frame of discussions, which exceeded all expectations. The president of the federation said of the report: “ARTOZA based on the meetings we have had with FORUM SA should be the best of all years in attendance. With the help of the organizing company and the help of the 2 federations (s.s. O.E.Z.E. – O.A.E.) we wish to make the exhibition even bigger next time”.

Update on the Digital card

Extensive reference was also made to the issue of the digital card, which is still at an incomplete stage due to the pre-election period we are going through. The Secretary General of O.E.Z.E., Panagiotis Stergiou, stated on the issue: “The digital card is an attempt to record working hours, overtime and possibly breaks during the working hours in a digital medium.” The purpose of this movement is the elimination of illegal work. However, due to the elections, the application of this card has not been finalized yet.

Activating dormant unions and combating domestic confectionery/piracy

The president of O.E.Z.E. referred to the federation’s targeted effort to mobilize dormant unions: “We are on a very good path with the activation of some unions that had been dormant, such as Larissa and Karditsa, there must be a tightening.” The president of the confectioners’ union of Komotini, Grigoris Tzenetidis, underlined the issue: “It is good that the oldest among us show us the way to activate the members”. In the Board of Directors there was also a small reference to the issue of home confectionery/piracy, which is a blow to the industry.

At the Board of Directors, March 29 was set as the day of holding the Annual General Meeting of O.E.Z.E. In addition, the final date of the federation’s congress was decided, which will take place from June 9 to 11, 2024, in Veria as already agreed.
